Ever tripped over an uneven concrete slab or held your breath while a parent navigated a shaky front step? That was the reality for these Davenport, Iowa, homeowners before MidAmerica Basement Systems arrived on the scene. Our crew stepped in to turn things around using our PolyLevel system to lift those stubborn, sunken slabs back to their original height. Now, the garage is perfectly level for its upcoming floor coating, and the front steps are rock-solid for visiting family. We topped it off with NexusPro Joint Sealant to block out water and prevent future cracks from sneaking back in. It’s amazing what a little structural TLC can do. This home is now safer, sturdier, and ready for whatever comes next.
In the before photo, notice the visible damage compromising the home’s structural integrity, leading the homeowner to worry about long-term value, a critical foundation failure located in Waterloo, IA that was carefully diagnosed by System Design Specialist Michael Chezum and permanently stabilized by Foreman Brian and his crew members Ian, David, and Markell. This property was at severe risk due to the inward movement of the foundation walls caused by lateral soil pressure, prompting our production team to install the Geo-Lock™ wall anchor system to halt further shifting and reinforce the home's long-term stability. By securing heavy-duty earth anchors deep into stable soil outside the foundation and connecting them to structural steel plates inside the basement, we successfully neutralized the destructive external forces as seen in the after photo. Ultimately, this engineered solution enhanced immediate structural safety, eliminated the threat of wall collapse, and fully preserved the property's value for any future selling endeavors.
This Davenport, IA driveway faced severe issues with concrete sections detaching from the main slab, forming noticeable lips where snow shovels repeatedly caught. Left unaddressed, these uneven panels posed constant trip hazards for pedestrians and threatened vehicle damage from bottoming out.
System Design Specialist Rob Chismark evaluated the property, diagnosing soil erosion as the root cause of the panel separation. Foreman Ricky and crew member Markell moved in to deliver a permanent fix. The team stabilized and leveled the concrete using our high-density PolyLevel® geopolymer foam, filling subterranean voids and gently lifting the detached slabs back to a flush elevation. Additionally, Ricky and Markell applied NexusPro® joint sealant across all joints and cracks to block future water intrusion and prevent subgrade soil washout.
Our expert intervention restored the driveway's structural integrity, enhanced its curb appeal, and permanently solidified the surface against the risk of future subsidence or displacement.
