In Davenport, IA, we found a hefty concrete slab doing what concrete, unfortunately, does best—sinking! The homeowner called us to help rescue their foundation, and salesman Ryan Nolen was quick to arrive on the scene to assess the settling and map out a permanent fix.
As you can see in the before photo, the sinking had already taken a significant toll. Foreman Ricky Sigala and his crew stepped in to lead the rescue mission using our trusty PolyLevel® system. By the time they were finished, the concrete was lifted back to its original position and had regained its grip.
To wrap things up, the team finished the job with NexusPro® Joint Sealant, giving those stubborn slabs a heavy-duty makeover. This final touch ensures that no sneaky water causes more "breaking-and-entering" sink-holes in the future. Problem solved, courtesy of Ryan, Ricky, and the rest of the MidAmerica Basement Systems team!
In Davenport, IA, a customer needed a hand lifting a sunken driveway that had developed quite the tilt—the kind that could send a runaway skateboard flying! To tackle the concrete chaos, System Design Specialist Andrew Sagar mapped out a plan, and Foreman Justin Maddox, Jr. led our trusty crew to work their magic.
Using PolyLevel®, the team lifted the slab so smoothly you’d think it was just waking up for its morning coffee. The "after" photo reveals a driveway as even and serene as a Midwestern sunrise. To finish the job, we applied NexusPro® to seal the joints, ensuring water stays out and the driveway stays put. After all, cracks and misalignments were never part of the plan!
Radon is essentially gas that seeps up from the earth and can find it's way into homes. If the Radon levels are high, it can pose a hazardous living environment for the homeowner. The most susceptible homes are those with crawl spaces and basements that are not properly ventilated. MidAmerica Basement Sytems has the solution: a Radon mitigation system that carries the harmful gas out of homes.
The homeowner of the Davenport basement wanted to start finishing the basement. The homeowner noticed water intrusion in the space and knew they had to waterproof the space before completely finishing it so the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems was called. The team installed WaterGuard around the perimeter to drain wall leaks into the system and away from the foundation floor. ThermalDry flooring was installed on the cold, damp foundation foor. ThermalDry is made of all-inorganic materials making it resistant to water damage and mold growth. The small pegs on the bottom of the tiles allow for air flow to avoid trapped water vapor that can cause odors. The homeowner chose to go with the warm Parquet style ThermalDry flooring which gives the appearance of wood without the concerns that accompany wood floors in basements (water damage, mold, decay).
The walls were insulated with Basement to Beautiful wall panels. The panels are a 2 1/2" thick graphite infused foam insulation that will not absorb moisture, allows for wall leaks to drain to WaterGuard and has built in chases for electrical wiring. Basement to Beautiful panels are a vapor barrier and provide excellent insulation. The EnergyStar rated dehumidifying and air filtration unit was also installed to keep the space fresh and healthy.
The homeowner has a basement that has already made a huge improvement. The space is warmer, inviting and feels great!
The homeowners called the MidAmerica Basement Systems team in regards to cracks and water intrusion. The team installed a CleanSpace strip to the damage walls, WaterGuard perimeter drainage system and TripleSafe sump to provide a dryer, healthier space!
