Damp, cold crawlspaces can dramatically damage your home. The wooden floor joists absorb the moisture, causing the floor systems to weaken and rot, while cold, musty air rises into your home, leaving a bad odor and hazardous health conditions. A total crawlspace encapsulation with CleanSpace, allows for the ground to be permanently sealed off from the crawlspace, allowing for the floor systems to stay dry, and keep to cold, musty smells out of the home. CleanSpace is a thick liner, much like a pool liner, that provides durability against rips and tears, and is infused with an antimicrobial material that prevents mold growth.
The storage room at All Makes Office Furniture has leaked for many years, and was left unattended, leaving the area “just-right” for mold to grow. When MidAmerica Basement Systems crew members arrived, Mold X was applied to all the affected walls before they could go any further with the process. Trenches were dug around the perimeter of the foundation so WaterGuard could be installed. CleanSpace was applied to all the walls, preventing moisture from entering, and to help prevent future mold growth. Two TripleSafe sumps were installed with the original sump, to properly accommodate the amounts of water the enter the building. The waterproofing systems have dramatically changed the environment of the storage room, allowing from a dry and usable space.
Thomas was concerned about his large amounts of radon in his home and quickly contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have a system installed. During his appointment, Cole suggested a sump pump depressurization solution. Using Thomas’ current sump pump, the Radon Mitigation system would be installed directly in the pit. This allows for easy access to pulling the radon out from underneath the home, and disbursing it back outdoors. Sealing the sump pit is also critical to an effective radon mitigation system so the concentrated radon is the only gas that is being pulled from the home.
Jennifer is the community’s building manager of the Boy and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley (BGCMV) and was having issues with the Moline, IL location. On one side of the building, water would leak instead, making the area unsafe for the participating children. She quickly reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have the area waterproofed. CleanSpace was placed along the leaking wall to help prevent water from appearing on the floor, and help prevent excess moisture. WaterGuard was placed along the wall and floor joint, and attached to the CleanSpace. After water ran down the wall, it could collect in the WaterGuard to be redirected to the TripleSafe sump. The TripleSafe properly discharged the water out of the building, allowing for a dry and safe environment for the children. With the help from MidAmerica Basement Systems, the BGCMV could remain open for children of all ages.
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer and can go undetected. Radon is measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L) and it is suggested by the EPA that levels higher than 4 pCi/L be reduced. 1 pCi/L is equivalent to smoking 2.5 cigarettes per day. Radon becomes present due to the decay of uranium found in the soil and rocks. Installing a Radon Mitigation system from MidAmerica Basement Systems will significantly decrease the levels in your home, making it safer to breathe. Radon Mitigation systems depressurize the soil and ground under the concrete basement by pulling the gases from the ground, preventing them from seeping into the home, and disbursed into the air.
