A homeowner in Orion, IL faced bowing basement walls that needed stabilization. After a thorough assessment of the foundation, our Specialist recommended the installation of our trusted CarbonArmor system. CarbonArmor uses fiber-reinforced polymers to effectively lock the wall in its current position. Because it's a low-profile application that is only a thin strip, it allows the homeowner to paint directly over it and seamlessly finish the room. They now have full access to a stable and usable Orion, IL basement.
A homeowner in Orion, IL had their home previously tested for Radon. After receiving positive Radon test results back, they knew it was time to take action. The homeowner contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems and Design Specialist, Mac was able to come out to the homeowner's home to give them the best recommendation to their problem. Mac was able to recommend having a Radon Mitigation System installed within their home. This will help create peace of mind with the homeowner, knowing that after the installation the homeowner would be breathing safe, protected air within their home.
If you too are looking to have your home tested for Radon or a system installed, do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems. We would be happy to send a Design Specialist out to give you a free, no-obligation estimate!
Before we arrived, this Orion, Illinois, home struggled with a damp crawl space that sent musty odors and humidity into the living areas. Our System Design Specialist, Paul Flip, performed a detailed inspection and identified the source of the moisture. He designed a custom solution using our CleanSpace encapsulation system, SmartDrain, Large Vent Covers and the high-efficiency SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
On installation day, our Foreman, Dylan Johnson, and his crew executed the plan with precision. As you can see in the "after" photo, the crawl space is now a bright, dry and healthy environment that significantly reduces energy bills while protecting the home's structural integrity. Helping this family breathe cleaner air and reclaim their home is exactly why we do what we do—mission accomplished.
A residential property in Orion, IL, presented with a critical combination of structural wall compromise and severe subterranean moisture infiltration following localized winter weather cycles. System Design Specialist Jamie Cox performed a rigorous forensic evaluation of the below-grade envelope, diagnosing active groundwater transmission driven by hydrostatic pressure at the floor-wall cold joints, alongside advanced lateral wall deflection. To permanently arrest the inward structural movement, evacuate the liquid water, and stabilize the ambient indoor environment, Jamie engineered an integrated remediation layout combining sub-floor hydrodynamic management with high-tensile structural reinforcement.
Structural Repair Foreman Jose Ruiz and his technician, Scott, mobilized to execute the precision deployment of the multi-tiered system. The team began by performing a mechanical breaching of the concrete floor slab perimeter to install the WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain System, positioning the specialized piping profile directly on top of the concrete footing to safely isolate it from sediment-clogging mud zones while capturing weeping moisture. This drainage network was sloped to discharge directly into a high-capacity TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System, which establishes complete mechanical redundancy via a primary AC pump, a secondary high-output AC pump for peak surge events, and a third DC-powered battery backup pump to sustain operational continuity during localized power grid failures. To stabilize ambient air quality and lower relative humidity below the 50% threshold required to suppress mold germination, Jose and Scott installed the high-efficiency, commercial-grade SaniDry Sedona™ Dehumidifier.
To address the structural wall failure, the crew applied advanced aerospace technology to the masonry using the CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcement System. Jose and Scott prepped the deflecting foundation wall surfaces and utilized high-strength epoxy resin to bond flexible carbon fiber fabric straps directly to the concrete. This system utilizes carbon fiber that is ten times stronger than steel in tension, immediately stabilizing the bowing walls and permanently neutralizing the lateral soil pressures pushing against the structure. Following a meticulous site cleanup and a flush-pour concrete restoration over the perimeter drainage line, the technical intervention by MidAmerica Basement Systems successfully restored absolute structural integrity and permanent environmental control to the property.
In East Peoria, IL, a homeowner discovered high radon levels after renovations disturbed the soil around their home. With over 35 years of family-owned expertise, we installed a reliable radon mitigation system to address the problem. As seen in the after photo, our meticulous approach ensures the levels of radon in their home will always be at a safe level. This project highlights why our family-first focus makes all the difference in our radon solutions.
