Sinking Slab Foundation Receives Injection Technology to Lift and Stabilize Foundation in Davenport, IA
Challenge
Britauna was in the process of remodeling her home when she decided she wanted to replace the carpet with laminate flooring. After removing all the carpet, she noticed that her home’s slab had sunken in multiple areas, causing large gaps between the walls and floor. Large gaps between the floor vents and the floor were also exposed. Some areas had even dropped over two inches, making it near impossible for Britauna to replace her flooring without it being level. She finally reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems for help.
Solution
Design specialist, Wes, inspected Britauna’s situation and offered her the solution of PolyLevel. PolyLevel uses high-density polymers that fill the voids under the slab, then react by expanding to lift and stabilize the concrete. Small 3/8th inch holes are drilled along the slab to allow for injections of PolyLevel. Lifting forces range from 2,000 to 4,000 pounds per square foot, effortlessly lifting and stabilizing the home. PolyLevel is also very lightweight, only weighing in at 4 pounds per cubic foot, and a quick cure time, allowing the home to become stable in roughly 15 minutes after application. Now with a lifted foundation, Britauna can finish her flooring remodel.
