How Foundation Helical Pier Systems Work
Foundations settle because the soil in the ground is weak and can’t support the foundation’s weight. Helical piers are installed deep into the soil in order to support the weight of your foundation.
(Left) A foundation helical pier design that meets ICC (International Code Criteria) standards, with a true helix shape.
(Right) A nonconforming blade, with more of a duckbill appearance. This makes it churn up and disturb the soil during installation.
Installing Helical Piers
The piers are mechanically screwed deep down into the ground until they reach load-bearing soil that can support the weight of your home. The piers include blades that help them dig deep into the ground to reach the proper depth. Once that is reached, steel brackets are installed to secure the foundation footing.
The piers then transfer your home onto the soil and are adjusted to lift your home back to its original position before your foundation settled. Our team will then replace the soil that was excavated and fill it in around your home.
Once the helical piers are installed, any issues caused by your foundation settlement should be fixed. This includes wall cracks, uneven floors, or sticking doors and windows.
