Radon System To The Rescue In Coal Valley, IL

Homeowner, Julia did not know much about Radon until she heard about Radon testing from a friend of hers. Her friend mentioned how her family regularly uses their basement for entertainment purposes and also for one of their teenage sons who currently lives down there. Julia felt that she needed to test her home just to be safe because she also uses her basement on a regular basis.

After Julia learned more about Radon she sent out for a Radon testing kit. She received her results back and then called MidAmerica Basement Systems to come out and take a look to see what solution would best fix the situation. Design Specialist, Cole was able to recommend the Radon System to her. She also purchased the Exterior Aesthetic Package and the Noise Reduction he recommend. The Exterior Aesthetic Package will help increase the value of the home while keeping the beauty and help prolong the life of the Radon System, but most importantly, protect Julia’s family from Radon exposure! The Noise Reduction is installed in the attic of the home or on the vent pipe outside of the home. This helps keep the system quiet and of course, safe.

With the help of Cole and the MidAmerica Basement Systems Teram, Julia now feels happy and content knowing that her home is safe from harmful Radon exposure and can freely use her basement without any worry in mind!

Jim has lived in his home for the last nine years. Over time, he noticed the sidewalk and driveway of their home were slowly sinking and cracking. He contacted us regarding his interest in the concrete repair services offered at MidAmerica Basement Systems. The solution we offered comes in the form of a  polyurethane foam. The foam is injected under the concrete slab and fills the void underneath.  The foam expands and hardens in the void which lifts and levels the slab.

After having a test kit delivered to their home they were eager to see the results that they would receive. Dean and Jody have lived in their home for over 22 years. They were concerned about radon in their home so they conducted a test to see what the levels of radon were in their home. After receiving the results from the test, they were very concerned about how high their levels were so they called MidAmerica Basement Systems. Design Specialist Cole Tatge educated them on radon mitigation systems and why they were needed in their home. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. The EPA recommends that testing is done in the lowest point of your home. This represents an area where the greatest level of radon occurs.

CleanSpace and WaterGuard Make Basement Waterproofing More Effect for Home in Coal Valley, IL

Jeff M. of Coal Valley has a sump pump in his basement to keep his basement from flooding. But he started noticing that when it rained heavily, water just wasn’t seeping in from the floor of the foundation. It would come in from the top of the foundation and run down along the wall, causing the floor to become wet. Jeff thought he was going to need to replace his sump pump with a whole new system.

Upon the inspection from MidAmerica Basement Systems, they assured him he didn’t need a new sump pump, but instead adding a few products to help with the leaking foundation. The crew installed CleanSpace and WaterGuard to help direct any water that would leak in to the sump pump. Now when it rains heavily, water doesn’t pool on the floor, but instead is properly directed to the sump pump.

He showed Marilyn where the water was coming in and explained exactly how it could be fixed. Foreman Bill Wilcox and his team came out to the property to install products that would ensure Marilyn's basement would stay dry. These products included the patented sub-floor drainage system, WaterGuard, a TripleSafe Sump Pump, IceGuard attachment piece, and a buried discharge line with a LawnScape exit piece. Our 3/4 finished basement flooded for the second time in a year last night after the heavy rain. The first time it happened, it was due to a power outage and us not having a battery-powered sump. We had a battery backup installed, but last night our sump couldn't keep up and water still got in our basement. We need a permanent solution, especially since our foundation sits lower.

Project Location: Coal Valley, IL
I have Horizontal/Vertical cracks on my basement foundation and it leaks in 2 different places when it rains really hard. My main concern is getting the water to stop making my basement wet because I don't want my finished side to get wet anymore.
Project Location: Coal Valley, IL
We purchased our home in August 2012. A previous owner had an addition added (contractor unknown) and there is a crack between the new and the old cement foundation wall from the basement floor extening up the 8' wall. At the top of the wall, the crack is approximatley 3/8" wide. Light through the crack is visibal above the dirt line. There were large storage shelves covering the crack so both ourselves and our building inspector missed citing the crack on our pre-purchase inspection. Cracks (previously repaired and hidden) have appeared in the drywall on the second story. We need to know if foundation work is required so the side of the house (addition) doesn't slide down the hill or if all that is required is fixing the cracks.

I have never had water in the basement before. Since all the rain over the last couple days I see leaks from cracks in the foundation and I believe from the cove joints.
