Photo Album: Crawl Space Restoration in Edwards, IL

The homeowner of this larger crawlspace in Edwards wanted the space to be restored. There were numerous utilities and pipes running though the space and the old sump pump and liner did very little in keeping the crawlspace dry. The experts in all things basementy (and crawlspaces too!), MidAmerica Basement Systems, were called. With the installation of CleanSpace, we were able to accurately encapsulate the crawl space. CleanSapce also has an anitmicrobial additive that resists mold growth on the liner. With the space now properly sealed, the team also installed the TripleSafe sump pump. TripleSafe has 3 pumps, the 3rd being the systems battery back-up sump pump in cases of power outages. WaterWatch alarm system is also apart of the unit and will warn the homeowner of potential problems.

This crawlspace is dark, damp and dingy. Although there is a vague plastic liner reflecting in the light, it is doing little to sealing the space from the earth or brightening the space.

Rust is a sign...

Rust on the bottom of this utility is an indication of water intrusion. Without a proper drainage system, the thin plastic application around the utility may be making things worse.

Corroding Space

There seems to be a drainage system pooling water into one hole/area but doing little to get the water out of the space, causing water vapor to rise...lending to the clear corrosion of the space.

Before this crawlspace was dark, damp and dingy. With CleanSpace installed, the space is properly sealed. In the past, thin plastic applications were popular but they would tear, puncture and bunch up which ultimately made the encapsulation obsolete. The CleanSpace liners are different. They are specially designed to be strong, durable, and long lasting. Plastic liners of the past were as this as 6 mil, CleanSpace is 20 mil thick.

CleanSpace is made with multiple layers of plastics with varying characteristics making it not only resistant to tears and punctures, but also flexible enough to fit snugly against the space.

Sealed

The strange hole with sitting water is gone. The utilities are fitted with the durable and effective CleanSpace. The CleanSpace is a vapor barrier and also has an antimicrobial additive making it resistant to mold growth on the liner.

The Best Sump Pump

Out is the old sump pump that did nothing to keep this crawlspace dry, and in is the patented TripleSafe sump pump. The unit is equipped with three pumps, the third is the UltraSump, which is the systems battery back-up sump pump that activates in a power outage. The system comes with the WaterWatch, designed to alert the homeowner of any rising issues. This crawlspace had utilities, numerous pipes running through and exposed dirt. There were a number of ways water could continue damaging the space, but now this crawl space is dry, sealed and protected with TripleSafe and CleanSpace.
