Helping One Community Center At A Time
“The Boys & Girls Clubs is a youth development organization that promotes character development and prevents delinquency. This is accomplished through services directed at providing behavioral guidance and the promotion of health, social, education, vocational, and character development of children. Programs and activities are designed to help individual members by stressing health and fitness, citizenship and leadership development, skill development, and educational career development.” – BGCMV history and mission.
The BGCMV have three locations in the area that help serve over 600 members. The Club, located in Moline, IL, was having issues with a leaking foundation, posing threat to the building and the children that participated at the location. During heavy rains, water would seep into the walls and floor, leaving pooling water on the floor. When water was present in the building, the events couldn’t take place, making the children upset.
MidAmerica Basement Systems were soon contacted to help address the water issue. Systems design specialist, Mike Banks, quickly evaluated this issue. He described the issue of a leaking foundation and floor, but could be fixed with a proper solution for MidAmerica Basement Systems. CleanSpace was placed along the leaking walls and WaterGuard was placed along the perimeter of the floor to prevent water for surfacing and pooling on the floor. Once the water is collected, it is redirected to a TripleSafe so it can be properly discharged out of the building. Thanks to the help of MidAmerica Basement Systems, The Club can remain open, allowing for all children to participate on any day, rain or shine.
Together, MidAmerica Basement Systems and the Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley can help keep the children of the community growing and succeeding.
