MidAmerica Sponsors Grocery Dashers & Donates To The River Bend Food Bank
Grocery dash is a fun race where the participants run through a grocery store grabbing as much merchandise as possible in less than 2 minutes and the participant that grabs the most valued merchandise is allowed to keep their entire grocery cart! MidAmerica Basement Systems was asked to sponsor the participants and MidAmerica Basement Systems President, Howard Tatge, was enthusiastic to partake in the event. However, Howard added even more incentive to the grocery dash by offering to match ALL of the participants’ earnings and donate the amount to The River Bend Food Bank.
The River Bend Food Bank has been helping people in need since 1982 with their single mission, "To lead the community-wide effort to end hunger in eastern Iowa and western Illinois." MidAmerica Basement Systems is a proud member of the Quad Cities community and surrounding areas so the team ceased the opportunity to help sponsor such a fun event while also making a contribution to an honorable cause.
The grocery dash was filled with enthusiasm and excitement as the participants held on to the handle of their carts and sprinted through each aisle, trying to accumulate all the goods. At the end of the race, all three dashers were able to accumulate over $1000 worth of groceries. The winning cart went to a woman who was able to grab over $2500. Collectively, the dashers earned an impressive amount of nearly $5,000! Howard grabbed an oversized check with the collective amount matched and presented it to the River Bend Food Bank's Donations Director, Nancy Renkes.
One way the River Bend Food Bank has been able to assist so many is through its buying power, which means that just $1 can provide 5 meals to a hungry family. In other words, a nearly $5,000 donation from MidAmerica Basement Systems will provide an astonishing 25,000 meals to families in need! For MidAmerica Basement Systems, the opportunity to help the community in which it loves is priceless!
