Challenge

Lexi and Marshall were wanting to finish their basement and add a bedroom. They called a company to address their water issue in their basement. The company put in the sump pump, but that was just the beginning of the many issues to arise. Their water issue still was not address, instead it was still seeping into the basement. Finishing their basement was put on a setback.

Solution

Lexi and Marshall made a call to MidAmerica Basement Systems to initially get a quote for the installation of an egress window. But a week prior to their appointment, that’s when they were noticing the unsolved leaking problem. MidAmerica Basement Systems were glad to help with replace and solve their failing system once and for all, but had to address the issue about installing an egress window. Due to the location of the initial sump pump, they were going to need to relocate the working sump to a new spot prior the installation of the egress window. Specialists also pointed out that a large issue of the water that was still coming in to the basement was from the cracks in the foundation floor.

Specialists installed a TripleSafe Sump to replace the defective system that was previously installed by the other company. The TripleSafe offers a primary pump, secondary pump, and a battery backup sump pump, providing the insurance of a dry basement. To address the cracks in the foundation floor, specialists installed lateral drains to provide a track for the water to flow to the sump pump, rather than seeping to the surface of the floor. A proper discharge line was installed to direct water away from the home’s foundation, and IceGuard was added to the line to prevent ice build-up during the freezing cold seasons.

Thanks to the rescue of MidAmerica Basement Systems, Lexi and Marshall can finally proceed to installing an egress window and properly finish their basement without the worry of water damaging their finished basement. They were so please with the hard work and success of MidAmerica Basement Systems, they are considering having Total Basement Finishing complete their basement finishing.
