Radon Mitigation in Morton, IL
Challenge
Radon is a radioactive, colorless, odorless, tasteless nobles gas that is produced from naturally decaying radium. Even though Radon is present both inside and outside of your home, inside your home tends to lead to higher levels. Rick B. had heard that his neighbor had high levels of Radon, so he purchased a DIY Radon Test for his home. Results from Rick’s DIY test were 2 times higher than normal levels (1.3 pCi/L).
Solution
Rick made the call to MidAmerica Basement Systems to handle the Radon issue. The Crew installed a mitigation system with a Premium Radon Eagle Fan. The system was installed using the Sub-Slab Depressurization technique which is when a 5-inch hole, drilled through the slab floor, allowing it to become a suction pit to direct the Radon. All other possible airways are than sealed so that all Radon is directed to the pit to be filters out of the home, making the air clean and safe to breathe. MidAmerica Basement Systems provided a testing kit to be performed after the installation, to show the difference in the air quality and what the Radon Mitigation system is doing for homeowner Rick.
