Basement Made Brighter & Safer in Walcott, IA
Challenge
Joshua D. from Walcott was referred to the professionals at MidAmerica Basement Systems because he was interested in installing new egress window systems. Joshua explained to the Appointment Center Representative, Brittany Soucy that he was interested in having two egress windows installed and may possibly want to replace other windows. The team sent Design Specialist, Michael Banks, to Joshua’s home to design the ideal solution for the basement.
Solution
Foreman, Mike Keck, led the project. The team installed two new vinyl EverLast Basement Windows. Both windows were 32 x 16 x 8. The team also installed two SunHouse Basement Window Enclosures with domed lids and a Bilco StakWEL Egress Window system. A Bilco system includes new vinyl casement window, 3 Bilco StakWEL egress well units and a sump liner with discharge line. Lastly, the team installed a cover for the StakWEL.
The installation begins with excavation of soil where the new window systems will be installed. After the installation, the team uses a wet saw to precisely cut the area where the team will frame the window system. The team places and secures the new window system and then fits the new well systems. Once the new window system is positioned, the team back fills with soil and crushed rock.
Now Joshua not only has a brighter basement, but a safer one. The larger egress window system will provide an extra means of escape in case of a fire or other emergency!
