Radon Mitigation & Crawl Space Encapsulation Go Hand-in-Hand in GalesBurg, IL
Challenge
Harry has been at his home for 40 years and plans on being there for the foreseeable future. Homeowner performed a radon test on the home with positive reading. Because he plans on living there for the foreseeable future, Harry is very concerned about radon. Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, but it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer. Testing is the only way to know your home’s radon levels. There are no immediate symptoms that will alert you to the presence of radon.
Solution
Our Design Specialist, Cole Tatge, assessed Harry’s home and provided a solution. Given the homes condition, Cole recommended that Harry encapsulate the basement and crawlspace with our CleanSpace Encapsulation System with CleanSpace Drainage Matting under CleanSpace liner. This is a thick, pool liner-like material which is used to completely separate the area from the outside. This will allow the homeowners to use their crawl space for storage without worry of critters or mold reaching their belongings. It is particularly useful because it keeps radon out as well. Our radon mitigation system was installed. This system runs under a basement floor, travels up a pipe and is released outside through that pipe and an exhaust fan.
