Lifting and Leveling Pool Deck in Rock Island, IL
Challenge
Mike was concerned with the multiple tripping hazards and cracks that lined his deck around his pool. He was unsure of how to fix the concrete without damaging the pool. He had spoken with many different companies to have the issue fixed, but no solution was safe enough for the pool. He was about to give up until he had spoken with design specialist, Cole from MidAmerica Basement Systems.
Solution
PolyLevel is a similar technique to mudjacking, but more effective and safe for lifting pool concrete. The lightweight polyurethane material weighs less than 4lbs per cubic foot, whereas mudjacking weighs 120lbs/cf, placing less stress against the pool walls when injected. Once PolyLevel is injected under the concrete, the polymers fill the voids that have initially caused the concrete to sink and crack, and lifted them back to level. The small injection holes are only 5/8th inch holes, making the holes go unnoticed after injection is complete. And with PolyLevel being a waterproof material, rain water nor pool water will cause it to wash away. To prevent future washouts of soil from happening under the concrete, NexusPro Joint Sealant was applied to all the man-made cracks and cracks that were caused by sinking concrete. The sealant expands and contracts with concrete/ground movement, to ensure that the bond lasts and prevent cracks from worsening. Mike no longer has tripping hazards around his pool, and now has a stable pool deck that will last.
