Homeowner Verna was having a small issue of water entering her basement. She had a sump pump, but no way for the water to reach it. She made a call to MidAmerica Basement Systems for help. The Experts installed CleanSpace along the leaking wall to help direct the water in the right direction. WaterGuard was then installed as a path to the sump pump. WaterGuard also helps direct water that may come in from the floor foundation of the home. Now any water can be properly discharged from Verna’s home.
Leaking foundation walls can leave the basement wet, and allow for mold to grow. Installed a waterproofing system from MidAmerica Basement Systems allows for a dry basement, helping prevent future mold growth. WaterGuard is installed around the perimeter of the basement, collecting the seeping wall water, and water that may be coming in from under the floor. WaterGuard then helps redirect the water to a TripleSafe sump, so it will be properly discharged back out of the home. It is also ideal to have an industrialized dehumidifier installed, SaniDry Sedona. The dehumidifier not only filters to moisture out of the air, but costs less to run than a typical dehumidifier, and removes 95 pints of water per day. With all systems running together, wet basements are no longer and future mold growth is prevented.
Pauline had recently finished her basement, but it felt like something was missing. It still seemed dark and gloomy no matter how many lights she had installed, plus the windows still gave a spooky-basement feel. She contacted MidAmerica Basement Systems to have new basement windows installed. Not only did she have new EverLast Basement Windows installed to offer a beautiful look, but also installed SunHouse Window Well. A SunHouse prevents weeds from growing around the windows, while offering a white walled-well to reflect more natural light into the basement. Pauline now had a finished basement that shined even when the lights were off!
Jason was noticing large sinking area in the sidewalk to the entrance of his home, and was concerned on how he would have it fixed. The whole area was a solid poured slab that was uniquely poured for his home, and reconstructing the area with a whole new re-pour would cost thousands of dollars. Jason talked with design specialist, Cole from MidAmerica Basement Systems, and was proposed a solution that would not ruin or cost him an arm and a leg. PolyLevel uses polymers to inject under the concrete to fill the voids. Once the voids are filled, the PolyLevel expands to lift and level the sunken concrete, without damaging the rest of the concrete slab. The once sinking sidewalk to Jason’s home, is now level and stable like the first time it was poured.
Donna and Carl had recently had their basement waterproofed by MidAmerica Basement Systems and were looking to fix their old, leaking basement windows as well. After their windows were replaced with new EverLast Windows, SunHouse Window Enclosures were added. The SunHouse not only prevents weeds and debris from collecting and growing in the wells, but offers a more reflective base to bring in more natural light for the basement. The new enclosed window wells have aided in keeping the basement dry and has definitely brightened the basement.
Homeowner Ken was experiencing water issues in his home and was concerned about his basement. He called the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems to help him figure out what was the best option for his home. Service Technician Kyle McCarty installed a sump pump into his home. The TripleSafe sump pump is a three pump system that is guaranteed to help keep your basement dry.
Homeowner, Sara heard about Radon from a friend of hers after they had a Radon Mitigation System installed. Knowing that Radon is an odorless and colorless gas, she thought it was a great idea to learn a little more about what can happen if Radon is found within the home. She learned that any level of Radon found within the home can be dangerous, and having children in her home she thought it would be best to have it tested. After having her home tested, they did indeed find Radon in her home. She decided this was a job for the experts in the industry, MidAmerica Basement Systems. Design Specialist, Michael was able to come out to Sara's home and give her the best recommendation to keep Sara's home and family safe, Radon Mitigation System.
Installer, Bill was able to come out and install the Radon Mitigation System in October. He installed a Premium Radon Mitigation System, Crack Sealing, and Exterior Aesthetic Package. Now Sara's home is now once again a safe environment for her family!

Homeowner, Darrin was experiencing cracks within his basement walls, which was causing water leaks throughout. Darrin was not sure patching the concrete was the best idea but has patched it in the past and has not held well, so he thought he should leave it to the experts to figure out the best solution, MidAmerica Basement Systems.
After having a design specialist come out to Darrin's home, Polyurethane Injection would be the best solution to repair his concrete walls. The Polyurethane is injected into the crack or hole in the concrete. The resin reacts with water to form an effective flexible waterproof seal within the crack or hole in the concrete. The Polyurethane also moves with the concrete without breaking the seal. This repair will last longer than a patch. Now Darrin no longer has to worry about the cracks and holes in his concrete walls and not have to worry about when he has to patch the wall next!
If you too are experiencing the same issue as Darrin, please do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems, we would be happy to help you!
Homeowner, Katie was experiencing wall cracks on her basement walls. She was not sure what was the best way to take care of the problem and did not want to see the problem get worse. She searched the Internet to find the best company possible to help with the job, and she came across the experts in the industry, MidAmerica Basement Systems. A Design Specialist was able to come out to Katie's home and talk to her about why walls fail and explain to her the different stages of wall failure.
Changes in surrounding soil of a home are the primary causes of foundation settlement. Soil can contain air pockets where water can flow into this area. This area is called an "active wedge". Water can freeze in this area causing pressure to be pushed onto the wall causing the wall to start to lean or crack. There are three main causes of wall failure. Wet soil expanding into the wall, hydrostatic pressure from water stacked up outside the wall, and also frost pushing against the wall. There are four stages of wall failure. The first stage is horizontal wall cracks. The second stage is staircase cracks. The third stage is continued pressure and would cause lean or sheer. The fourth stage we want to prevent this stage from even happening. Homeowner, Katie was experiencing the second stage of wall failure. As you can see in the picture, there are staircase cracks starting in the upper right corner of the wall. This is a wall problem that needs to be taken care of so it does not lead into the third or fourth stage.
There are many proven solutions that can help stabilize and straighten the wall! The FSI Push Pier system is a great solution that would be able to permanently stabilize Katie's home foundation. The system has steel tube sections that are hydraulically driven through steel foundation brackets. The home foundation will no longer hold the weight and now the Push Pier's will. This is the best solution for complete foundation lift and stabilization.
If you too are having the same issue as the homeowner, Katie. Please do not hesitate to reach out to MidAmerica Basement Systems! We would be happy to help you out!

At MidAmerica Basement Systems, we recently tackled a project for a homeowner in Langworthy, IA, that had them feeling like they were living in a funhouse – but not in a good way. Their floors felt unstable, a clear sign something was amiss beneath their feet. Adding to their concerns were cracks creeping along the walls upstairs, making it more than just a simple cosmetic issue; it was a potential safety hazard. After reaching out to our Customer Care team, the journey to a stable, comfortable home began. Our System Design Specialist paid a visit and got down to brass tacks during a full home inspection. What we found was a crawl space in despair, unable to provide the support the home desperately needed. The diagnosis? Our SmartJack system was the way forward, poised to bring back stability while bidding adieu to those wall cracks waving hello upstairs. Installing SmartJack wasn’t just about placing a strong and steady foundation under the home; it was about transforming the living space into one that was safe, secure, and square. Not 'square' as in boring, but really — properly aligned. Our installation process was thorough yet unobtrusive. We entered, set up, authenticated the issue was fully addressed by applying our expert knowledge and tools of the trade, and exited with as little disruption to the homeowner's daily life as possible. In the end, when our boots walked out that door and we looked back at a house restored, the feeling of accomplishment reminded us why we do what we do. For that homeowner in Langworthy, the floors were firm beneath their feet, confidence in their home’s safety restored, and those unsightly cracks in the walls? A thing of the past.
