MidAmerica Basement Systems Waterproofs Historic Home in Davenport, IA

Waterproofing in Historic J. Monroe Parker Home of Palmer College of Chiropractic Fraternity Delta Sigma Chi.

J. Monroe Parker Home The Historical Society of Davenport recently awarded a 2 million dollar grant to remodel the historical property at 1208 Main Street.  MidAmerica Basement Systems was chosen to waterproof the historical structure.  Ryan Krog, the President of Delta Sigma Chi Fraternity reached out to design specialists Troy Hamilton and David “Mac” McDaniel.  In 2017, Mr. McDaniel was responsible for the design on the waterproofing and dehumidification system on the historic LeClaire Hotel in downtown Moline.

The J. Monroe Parker home is a historic building located in the College Square Historic District in Davenport, Iowa.  The home was built in 1881, and in 2003 was added to the Davenport Register of Historic Places.  Since 1978 the home has served as a fraternity house or Delta Sigma Chi from Palmer College of Chiropractic.

The challenge in the design was creating a system that would not compromise the structure while preserving the historical façade of the home.  The home also features a mansard roof, multicolored slate shingles, iron roof cresting beautiful molding and fanciful window surrounds.
