Repairing Sunken and Cracked Driveway in Dunlap, IL

Challenge

Wynn was noticing large settlement under his driveway which was causing the concrete to sink. Some sections were sinking 2 inches, and other sections had begun to pull away from each other. Under extreme conditions, some slabs had cracked, causing multiple tripping hazards. Wynn had reached out to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have his driveway fixed.

Solution

Design specialist, Dan, was inspecting Wynn’s situation and offered the solution PolyLevel and NexusPro Joint Sealant. Small holes were drilled into the concrete slabs for PolyLevel to be injected. PolyLevel is a lightweight material that fills the voids, which originally caused the concrete to settle and crack. After the voids are filled, the PolyLevel expands to lift, level, and stabilize the sunken and cracked slabs. After all sections of the driveway were lifted, leveled, and stabilized, NexusPro Joint Sealant was applied to all cracks. NexusPro helps seal the cracks, extending the longevity of the concrete. It prevents water from seeping in between cracks, causing the ground to wash out from underneath the slabs. Washouts are one of the common reasons of concrete settlements, and preventing washouts keeps the slabs at a stable and level state.
