Leaking Basement in East Peoria, IL Home has Waterproofing System Installed
Challenge
It isn’t always easy when you purchase a new home, especially when issues start arising. As for Michael and Tana, they thought they were going to have an “easy”, wet spring. When they were purchasing the home, the old homeowner told them that the basement got a little wet when it rained heavily, but it was easily taken care of with the sump that was already in place. Come to find out, the sump that was already installed, couldn’t keep up with all the water that was coming in, causing a very wet basement. They decided to fix their issue once and for all and made the call to MidAmerica Basement Systems for help.
Solution
Upon assessment, crew members identified that a large portion of the water coming in the basement was from a crack in the foundation. Using a crack injection will help seal the foundation wall and help prevent water from coming in through the crack. A proposal of a new TripleSafe Sump was suggested to help ensure a dry basement. The TripleSafe can handle more water to confirm the basement will stay dry. Installing WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement will also increase a dry basement. WaterGuard helps direct the flow of water to the sump pump so it can be properly discharged from the basement. It also helps water from collecting on the floor of the basement. A new waterproofing system installed in Michael and Tana’s basement can help the new homeowners rest assure that they will continue to have a dry basement during the heaviest of rains.
